Group Accountant

About the role

Peston Group is looking for a competent, analytical and highly organized Group Accountant to join its Finance Department in Dar es Salaam. The role involves consolidating financial records across all subsidiaries, ensuring accurate reporting and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Consolidate financial reports for all Peston Group companies and subsidiaries.
• Maintain general ledgers, fixed asset registers and accurate accounting records.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and cash management.
• Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, Tanzanian tax laws and all statutory reporting requirements.
• File and manage statutory tax obligations through TRA systems, including TRA IDRAS.
• Coordinate annual external audits and address audit queries.
• Establish and monitor internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of ERP and accounting software.
• Provide financial and investment analysis, budgeting support and strategic advice to management.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA (T), ACCA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting, group consolidation and IFRS.
• Familiarity with Tanzanian tax regulations and TRA reporting systems.
• Analytical mindset, results‑driven and able to work independently.
