Graduate Metallurgist

About the role

Join Barrick Africa Middle East Team as a Graduate Metallurgist and support the operation of a mineral processing plant in Tanzania. You will work in a dynamic environment, applying your academic knowledge to real‑world metallurgical challenges while upholding the company’s safety and sustainability values.

Key responsibilities

• Execute process plant operations in compliance with Tanzania Mining Commission regulations and Barrick safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Perform weekly metallurgical laboratory tasks, including sampling, test work, and data compilation for daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
• Manage reagent and consumables reconciliation, ordering, and budgeting in coordination with the supply chain.
• Participate in plant troubleshooting with operations and engineering teams and optimise gravity, CIL, and milling circuits.
• Plan, execute, and report metallurgical test work, maintain on‑stream analyzers, and ensure proper functioning of automatic samplers.
• Support audits, quality‑assurance activities, and monthly metallurgical accounting and reconciliations.

Required profile

• Graduate (2024‑2026) with a degree in Mineral Process Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Awareness of the Mines Health & Safety Act and Tanzania mining regulations.
• Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP.
• Practical training or experience in metallurgical laboratory techniques and plant operations.
