General Manager – Zanzibar Luxury Resort

About the role

The General Manager in Zanzibar will oversee all operational aspects of a luxury resort, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, optimizing business performance, and maintaining high standards of service and compliance. This senior leadership position requires strong communication skills and deep knowledge of the travel, leisure, tourism and hospitality sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operational activities across all departments.
• Develop, implement and monitor business strategies, operational plans and budgets to achieve financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with local, regional and national regulations, including health and safety, licensing and environmental standards.
• Maintain exceptional customer service standards and resolve guest issues promptly.
• Recruit, train, mentor and manage staff to build a motivated, skilled workforce.
• Oversee procurement processes to control costs and ensure quality of goods and services.
• Foster strong relationships with suppliers, partners and local authorities.
• Analyse performance data and prepare regular reports for senior management.
• Drive marketing initiatives and promotional activities to enhance brand visibility.
• Promote sustainability and responsible tourism practices throughout operations.

Required profile

• Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism or a related field.
• Minimum five years of senior management experience in travel, leisure or hospitality.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Excellent leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; additional language skills (German, French, Italian) are advantageous.
