Fleet Manager

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a Fleet Manager in Dar es Salaam. The role oversees the daily operations, maintenance, utilization and performance of the company's transport fleet, ensuring compliance with transport and safety regulations, cost optimization and alignment with business and customer service goals. It also contributes to reducing downtime, improving driver performance and supporting operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily fleet operations, vehicle allocation and dispatch activities
• Monitor fleet utilization, fuel consumption and transport performance
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with the workshop team
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety standards and company policies
• Oversee driver scheduling, discipline and performance management
• Monitor GPS tracking systems and fleet movement
• Handle accident reporting, investigations and insurance processes
• Control operational costs including fuel, maintenance and repairs
• Maintain fleet records such as licenses, permits and insurance documentation
• Prepare operational and fleet performance reports for management
• Work with Operations and Finance on budgeting and planning, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of fleet or transport management experience
• Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets and drivers
• Good understanding of transport regulations and road safety compliance
• Experience in fleet cost control, fuel management and reporting
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• High level of professionalism, accountability and operational awareness

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of logistics and transport operations
• Experience using fleet management systems and GPS tracking tools (an advantage)
