Financial Controller

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is hiring a Financial Controller in Dar es Salaam. The role owns management reporting, performance control, costing and pricing discipline and cash flow planning, drawing on outputs from a centralized transactional finance function. It also acts as the finance SAP superuser (SAP champion), guarding data integrity, correct system use and standard reporting. It is a business-facing role focused on clarity, discipline and decision support.

Key responsibilities

• Management reporting: deliver monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, KPIs) with commentary, perform analytical reviews of transactional outputs and present variance analysis with root causes and actions.
• Budgeting and forecasting: lead annual budgets and rolling forecasts, build scenario analyses (volume, yield, input costs, FX, pricing) and support investment decisions with business cases.
• Costing, pricing and margins: own standard and actual costing, BOMs and routings, analyze production variances, maintain pricing models and margin bridges, and identify margin leakage with Operations and Commercial.
• Cash flow and working capital: produce weekly cash position and a 13-week cash flow forecast, and monitor AR aging, AP maturity, inventory days and slow-moving stock.
• Internal controls and SAP: define close calendars, reconciliations and approval standards, ensure audit-ready documentation, and act as SAP FI/CO superuser, including master data governance, UAT and training of key users.
• Business partnering: act as financial partner to Dairy, Farms, Milk Division and Feed Mills, translating operational performance into financial impact.

Required profile

• Manufacturing or agriculture controlling experience with strong costing and margin analytics.
• Proven SAP superuser (FI/CO) with MM/PP/SD integration knowledge, extracting and validating data directly in SAP.
• Advanced Excel and SAP reporting/BI, with a strong ownership mindset for systems and data structures.
• Structured, pragmatic and independent, able to challenge and drive actions across functions.
