Financial Accountant

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is hiring a Financial Accountant in Dar es Salaam. The role covers the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data, keeping accurate records of revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities, and safeguarding the integrity of financial information in line with IFRS, statutory requirements and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
• Maintain and reconcile petty cash, imprest accounts, cash and cheque counts and fund utilization reports.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, actuals reports, variance analysis and detailed schedules in line with IFRS and group policies.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, covering acquisitions, disposals, depreciation and periodic physical verification.
• Review and approve payment documents and store requisitions, ensuring accuracy, completeness and budget compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing documentation and resolving audit queries.
• Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping and compliance with statutory, regulatory and group reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting) or advanced diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Office 365).
