Consultant – Gender-Responsive Climate Education Framework (Dar es Salaam)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to design a gender‑responsive climate education curricular framework for primary and lower‑secondary schools in Tanzania. The assignment will be based in Dar es Salaam with home‑based work and occasional travel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a curriculum framework aligned with the Tanzanian National Curriculum for primary and lower‑secondary levels.
• Ensure vertical coherence by harmonising the new framework with the existing Upper Secondary Framework developed by Room to Read.
• Integrate climate science, active pedagogy and policy requirements into pedagogical resources.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Education, curriculum agencies and multi‑stakeholder networks.
• Provide recommendations for implementation and monitoring.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Climate Change, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years experience in Tanzania’s education sector and curriculum implementation.
• At least 5 years experience in climate education and curriculum development for primary and secondary levels.
• Proven track record of producing policy‑aligned educational frameworks.
• Fluency in English and Swahili; additional UN language is an asset.
