Librarian – Manage Physical & Digital Collections

About the role

The Librarian will be based on‑site in Dar es Salaam, overseeing both physical and digital collections for ADEM. This full‑time position focuses on delivering high‑quality library services that support teaching, research and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, catalogue and maintain physical and electronic resources using appropriate metadata standards.
• Provide reference and research assistance to students, educators and staff.
• Conduct library instruction sessions to develop information‑literacy and research skills.
• Manage lending systems, collection development and acquisition processes.
• Implement library policies, procedures and ensure accurate data entry.
• Collaborate with faculty and institutional teams to align library services with educational needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science or a related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Strong foundation in library services and experience with academic or educational libraries.
• Excellent organisational, communication and customer‑service abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
