Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Tanzania)

About the role

Drive business development across Tanzania, identifying lucrative opportunities in the steel sector, focusing on products such as HRC, CRC, GI and PPGI. Build and maintain relationships with clients while expanding market share and achieving ambitious sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing and long‑term account management.
• Analyze Tanzanian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and regional demand to create localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, logistics and finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with existing clients and acquire new accounts to grow market share.
• Represent the company at major Tanzanian trade events and industry associations to enhance brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international steel trading, with a proven track record in import/export operations.
• Excellent negotiation abilities, strong commercial acumen and an established network within the Tanzanian steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
• Fluent English for business communication.
