Branch Cashier – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for the accurate, secure, and timely handling of cash transactions, sales proceeds, and banking activities at the Dar es Salaam branch. This role ensures compliance with JTI accounting procedures, anti‑money‑laundering policies, and branch financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Secure and bank all sales proceeds, cheques, and pay‑in slips promptly, supported by endorsed deposit slips.
• Record and reconcile counter sales according to sales procedures and the Branch Accounting Manual.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of sales invoices, cheques, and cash transactions in line with AML policy.
• Maintain custody, recording, and reconciliation of branch sales proceeds using the TME lite system.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly expense reports, cash forecasts, and transaction reports.
• Perform weekly/monthly bank reconciliations for imprest accounts and contingent funds.
• Process approved cash payments and enforce accounting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Business Studies.
• 2‑3 years of experience handling cash in a similar role.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, honest, reliable, and detail‑oriented.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
