Accountant – Treasury & Financial Reporting (Tanzania)

About the role

The Accountant will support treasury, investment, statutory compliance and financial reporting functions for a regional organisation operating across East Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Operations, the role ensures accuracy, regulatory adherence and robust financial control over banking and capital markets activities.

Key responsibilities

• Value and manage the proprietary investment book across EAC, SADC and Western Africa, including posting and reconciling securities transactions in Flexcube.
• Process investor payments, update the ProBook securities register and reconcile portfolio holdings against Central Securities Depository (CSDR) reports.
• Prepare IFRS 9 journal entries for purchases, disposals and monthly unrealised fair‑value movements.
• Initiate daily supplier payments via the online banking system, verify invoices and manage fuel card funding.
• Prepare statutory and management financial reports, daily credit and liquidity snapshots for senior leadership.
• Monitor legislative changes, maintain internal controls, investigate general‑ledger issues and strengthen GL posting procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, treasury or financial reporting within the financial services sector.
• Proven experience with Flexcube, IFRS 9 accounting standards and securities‑register management.
