Senior Technical Officer, Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer, PMTCT, provides strategic technical leadership for the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), HIV‑Exposed Infant, pediatric HIV and cervical cancer services across Dar es Salaam.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation and oversight of PMTCT and cervical cancer prevention interventions in line with national guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance to regional teams on triple‑elimination of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B transmission.
• Strengthen referral and linkage systems across the PMTCT and cervical cancer care continuum.
• Monitor key indicators, track targets, coverage and service quality at regional and facility levels.
• Mentor, coach and build capacity of technical teams and healthcare workers through supervision and on‑the‑job training.
• Coordinate with government authorities, implementing partners and community stakeholders to ensure harmonised implementation.
• Prepare technical reports, analytical briefs, success stories and best‑practice documentation for donors and partners.
• Promote infection prevention and control and adherence to clinical standards in supported facilities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in public health programs focused on PMTCT, HIV‑exposed infants or cervical cancer prevention.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of national and international guidelines for PMTCT and cervical cancer.
• Excellent coordination skills with government, NGOs and community groups.
