Senior Technical Officer – TB Services

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer – TB Services will provide technical expertise to plan, implement and scale comprehensive tuberculosis prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment within the EpiC Project in Tanzania. Working closely with the Ministry of Health, Police Medical Unit, Prisons Health and Nutrition Unit and regional health teams, the role will strengthen integration of TB and HIV services across police, prison and public health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and technical support for TB interventions, including active case finding, diagnosis, treatment, TB preventive treatment and drug‑resistant TB management.
• Ensure alignment of TB services with Tanzania MOH/NTLP policies, guidelines and quality standards.
• Mentor and supervise regional staff, conduct clinical case reviews and support capacity building.
• Monitor programme performance through data review, cascade analysis and data quality assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
• Promote the use of digital health information systems for timely and accurate TB reporting.
• Coordinate with implementing partners and government bodies to address implementation challenges and support resource planning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in TB programme implementation and management, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Strong knowledge of TB/HIV collaborative activities and drug‑resistant TB protocols.
• Proven ability to provide mentorship, supervision and capacity‑building support.
• Excellent analytical skills for monitoring and reporting programme data.
