Senior Regional Technical Officer – Community Engagement

About the role

The Senior Regional Technical Officer, Community Engagement provides strategic technical leadership for community‑based HIV prevention, linkage, care, treatment and continuity of care across the Shinyanga region. The role ensures that community engagement activities align with national guidelines, project SOPs, and regional workplans.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of regional strategies to strengthen ART retention, treatment continuity, re‑engagement and outcomes.
• Develop, adapt, and roll out community engagement tools, SOPs and implementation guidelines in line with national policies.
• Provide technical leadership for demand generation and communication to increase awareness and uptake of HIV, TB, STI and violence‑prevention services.
• Conduct multidisciplinary reviews of program performance data and drive corrective action plans.
• Mentor, supervise and build capacity of Community Health Workers and other community‑based cadres.
• Develop and oversee regional community engagement operational plans to achieve program targets.
• Serve as the regional focal point for community engagement at technical forums, government meetings and stakeholder engagements.
• Lead data‑driven performance analysis to inform strategic decisions and improve ART retention.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in HIV/AIDS program implementation and community engagement.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with government health structures.
• Strong knowledge of national HIV guidelines, SOPs and ART retention strategies.
• Experience in mentorship, supervision and capacity‑strengthening of community health workers.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Willingness to travel within the Shinyanga region.
