Regional Technical Officer – PMTCT

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer – Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) provides technical expertise and supports the implementation of PMTCT, HIV‑Exposed Infants, pediatric HIV and cervical cancer services within the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The incumbent works closely with local government, regional health teams and implementing partners to strengthen high‑quality, equitable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of PMTCT and cervical cancer prevention interventions across the region.
• Provide technical guidance to facilities and community teams on triple‑elimination interventions (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B) and cervical cancer screening.
• Strengthen referral and linkage systems, track clients across the care continuum and minimize loss to follow‑up.
• Monitor key indicators, prepare technical reports, analytical briefs and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach regional technical teams and healthcare workers through supervision, on‑the‑job training and performance improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Nursing degree (or equivalent health‑related qualification) with professional registration where applicable.
• Minimum of four years of progressive experience in PMTCT, pediatric HIV, MNCH or HIV prevention, care and treatment programs, preferably donor‑funded.
• Demonstrated ability to work with regional health management teams, health facilities and implementing partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
