Regional Technical Officer – Community Engagement, HIV

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer (RTO) for Community Engagement, HIV will provide technical and programmatic oversight of community and facility‑based interventions aimed at strengthening linkage to care, ART initiation, treatment continuity and re‑engagement for adults, children and adolescents in the Iringa region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and mentorship to community health workers, health facilities and district teams to ensure implementation aligns with national SOPs and project objectives.
• Analyze ART retention and treatment continuation data, identify gaps, and recommend evidence‑based strategies to improve outcomes.
• Develop and disseminate tools, SOPs and communication materials to increase demand for HIV, TB, STI and sexual violence prevention services.
• Represent the project in regional and district technical workshops, supervise supportive visits, and ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, international development or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in community‑based health programming, preferably HIV prevention, care and treatment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with NGOs, CSOs, government agencies and to travel extensively within the country.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including interpretation of program indicators.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
