Packaging Operator

About the role

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring packaging equipment safely and efficiently to meet production, quality and operational targets. The role supports continuous improvement, high standards of safety and housekeeping on the line.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, healthy and compliant workplace by following all safety procedures, reporting hazards and participating in risk assessments.
• Operate packaging machinery according to SOPs and VPO standards, ensuring optimal performance, product flow and meeting shift production targets.
• Monitor production results, capture accurate waste and downtime data, and address any performance deviations.
• Uphold housekeeping standards using 5S principles and support preventive and autonomous maintenance activities.

Required profile

• National Diploma (N4) or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; additional technical qualifications are advantageous.
• Experience operating packaging equipment in an FMCG environment with knowledge of automated production processes.
• Understanding of quality, food‑safety and manufacturing standards, and ability to interpret production plans and work instructions.
• Basic computer literacy, production reporting skills and strong analytical/problem‑solving ability.
