M-Pesa Payment Product Specialist

About the role

The M-Pesa Payment Product Specialist supports the delivery of strategic payment collection projects across transportation, education, agriculture, health and logistics sectors. Working under the guidance of the manager, the specialist assists in planning, coordination and execution to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, governance and acceptance criteria aligned with business goals.
• Contribute to detailed project plans, track resources and monitor budgets.
• Support communication between M-Pesa, clients and partners, ensuring updates and documentation are shared.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth execution of assigned tasks.
• Monitor project activities, escalate risks or issues and propose improvements.
• Ensure deliverables meet defined standards and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, finance, IT or a related field (master’s preferred).
• 2‑3 years experience managing large‑scale public‑service or revenue‑collection projects.
• Experience in the transportation sector (air, water, rail, buses, etc.).
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and supporting contract administration.
• Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
• Familiarity with payment systems and automated fare collection.
• Analytical mindset with good problem‑solving and communication skills.
