Country Accountant – Finance Operations in Tanzania

About the role

Rentokil Initial Group is looking for a full‑time Country Accountant to lead finance operations in its East Africa hub. Based in Dar es Salaam, you will be responsible for the complete accounting cycle, tax compliance and treasury activities for the Tanzanian entity.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, trial balances and ensure IFRS compliance.
• Prepare month‑end and year‑end closes, including balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, vendor payments and bank reconciliations.
• Manage VAT, WHT, PAYE and other statutory filings through TRA’s EFD/VFD platform.
• Act as the primary contact for annual external audits and local tax audits.
• Prepare rolling cash‑flow forecasts and manage TZS/USD FX exposure in line with BOT regulations.
• Control inventory levels, customs documentation and stock‑valuation processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• CPA (Tanzania) qualification with active NBAA registration (CPPP or CPA).
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience in a multinational environment or tax/audit firm.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax law and TRA electronic filing systems.
• Professional fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken.
• High integrity, analytical mindset and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, NetSuite or QuickBooks.
• Hands‑on experience with IFRS accounting standards.
• Use of TRA’s EFD/VFD electronic platforms for VAT and tax filings.
• Cash‑flow forecasting and treasury management, including FX exposure handling.
• Bank reconciliation and petty‑cash management.
