Accounts Clerk – EU Delegation Tanzania

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Dar es Salaam seeks an Accounts Clerk to support the Administration Section. This fixed‑term position (2 years) involves handling invoices, payments and budget monitoring in line with EU financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify and register incoming invoices and payment requests in the SUMMA financial system.
• Execute payments to local bank accounts and follow up on outstanding transactions.
• Maintain the contractor database, ensuring legal and financial details are up‑to‑date.
• Encode commitments, de‑commitments and budget forecasts in the mission’s accounting and management software.
• Manage petty‑cash accounts and monitor expenditure against the approved budget.
• Prepare routine financial reports and assist in the preparation of annual budget estimates.

Required profile

• Works under the supervision of the Head of Administration Section.
• Supports control and maintenance of accounts and processing of financial transactions.
• Committed to a 2‑year fixed‑term contract with a 9‑month probation period.
• Team player in a group of 13, willing to work occasional atypical hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the SUMMA financial system.
• Experience using budget forecast software.
• Familiarity with mission management software for accounting purposes.
