Technical Supervisor (Power Generation)

About the role

This senior, site‑based position provides technical leadership for a large‑scale power generation operation in Tanzania. You will oversee the maintenance, reliability and performance of large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets while working closely with OEMs and site stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the operations and maintenance teams on technical matters.
• Plan, schedule and supervise preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities.
• Manage major overhauls, commissioning and recommissioning projects.
• Monitor plant performance indicators such as availability, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance compliance.
• Conduct complex fault‑finding, root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Control maintenance resources including manpower, tooling, materials and spare parts.
• Utilise CMMS (preferably Maximo) for work order management, planning and reporting.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between the site, OEMs and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience with large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets in power generation or similar industry.
• Minimum 5 years in a technical supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Hands‑on experience with CAT 3600 series engines, preferably CAT 3616.
• Extensive experience with HFO/CFO engines, fuel systems and fuel‑treatment equipment.
• Proven track record of major overhauls, maintenance planning, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Plant Engineering.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
