Project Officer – Birth Registration and Legal Identity Project

About the role

The Project Officer will support the implementation of the Birth Registration and Legal Identity Project in selected districts of Tanzania. Working closely with community facilitators, government officials and World Vision teams, the officer ensures activities are delivered on time, within budget and to donor standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities in assigned districts and develop implementation schedules.
• Organise inception, planning and review meetings with community and government partners.
• Provide technical support for Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions, parenting education and community dialogues.
• Promote and train stakeholders on the digital birth registration system (e‑RITA) and strengthen referral pathways.
• Monitor project progress, identify challenges and recommend corrective actions.
• Facilitate capacity‑building sessions for health workers, teachers, child protection committees and youth leaders.
• Strengthen collaboration with government institutions and local NGOs to improve birth registration coverage.

Required profile

• Experience in project coordination or implementation within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of community‑based interventions and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work in field settings, travel to remote districts and manage multiple tasks.
• Commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion and child protection principles.
