M-Pesa Lead – Southern Region

About the role

The M-Pesa Lead for the Southern region will be responsible for driving growth of Vodacom's mobile money business across all key performance indicators. This role combines strategic planning, partner management and on‑ground execution to expand the M-Pesa customer base and revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a regional commercial plan aligned with Vodacom M-Pesa’s annual strategy.
• Coordinate sales and distribution activities, including wakalas, super agents and merchants.
• Support and optimise performance of M-Pesa partners, ensuring healthy ROI for both parties.
• Mine market information, prepare weekly performance reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and execute quarterly tactical plans to sustain growth despite market dynamics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in a business‑related field.
• 3‑5 years of varied experience in mobile money sales, with at least 2 years at a senior level.
• Deep knowledge of mobile financial services, distribution models and route‑to‑market strategies.
• Strong commercial analysis capabilities for mobile money products.
• Proven ability to manage outsourcing partners and deliver business results.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Solid sales and distribution experience, preferably in FMCG or direct marketing environments.
