About the role

ZOLA iNTELLIGENCE (ZOLAi) is seeking a full‑time Lead Counsel to join its leadership team. The role carries General Counsel‑level responsibilities, guiding the company through complex legal landscapes across emerging markets.

Key responsibilities

• Represent ZOLAi in all legal matters, protecting the company’s interests across all jurisdictions.
• Provide accurate, timely, and commercially sound legal advice to the Leadership Team on corporate, operational, regulatory, and strategic issues.
• Lead high‑stakes international transactions, including commercial contracts, financing, licensing, partnerships, M&A, and equity deals.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain operational and commercial agreements such as customer leases, supplier contracts, contractor agreements, and mobile‑money provider agreements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks through research, legislative analysis, and compliance monitoring.
• Oversee litigation, disputes, administrative proceedings, environmental permitting matters, and regulatory inquiries.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of corporate legal experience.
• Strong proficiency with AI‑driven legal tools (e.g., Spellbook, Luminance, Gemini).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex international transactions and high‑risk legal matters.
• Excellent judgment, commercial acumen, and ability to work autonomously within a fast‑growing tech environment.
