Underground Service Crew Technician

About the role

The Service Crew Technician works underground to install and maintain essential utilities such as air, water, dewatering lines, ventilation fans, and electrical systems. The role supports mining operations by ensuring all underground services are installed safely, correctly, and in line with approved plans.

Key responsibilities

• Install underground air, water and dewatering lines up to 20 m from the face, using droppers and lift equipment.
• Mount secondary ventilation fans and extend ventilation ducts as per installation drawings.
• Set up and operate electrical pumps, position pump cables, and verify pump functionality.
• Clean and maintain mono pumps, inspect drain valves, and service steel ladders and platforms.
• Install, grout and tension cable bolts, preparing cement grout mixes and sealing bolt holes.
• Hang and route electrical and Jumbo trail cables, securing them on hooks and L‑pins.
• Operate articulated dump trucks, integrated tool carriers and underground light vehicles to transport equipment and materials.
• Load, transport and install ground support materials (bolts, plates, chemical resins, mesh, lifter tubes) in headings.
• Perform housekeeping, stock management and equipment pickup/delivery in underground laydown areas.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education or equivalent technical training.
• Experience working in underground environments, preferably mining or construction.
• Ability to follow safety procedures, hazard identification tools and underground SOPs.
• Physical fitness to work in confined spaces and handle heavy equipment.
