Technical Specialist: Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action

About the role

World Vision is hiring a Technical Specialist for Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) in Arusha, Tanzania. This is a local fixed-term position leading the design, implementation and scaling of climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience programming, covering monitoring, evaluation, learning, capacity building, partnerships and resource mobilization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, quality assurance, adaptation and scale-up of ESCA programming across area programmes, grants and humanitarian responses, including FMNR, Regreening Communities, CBDRM, CSA, ecosystem restoration and NbS.
• Integrate climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience-building across development and humanitarian programmes, and guide climate risk analysis and vulnerability assessments.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation, learning, accountability and knowledge management, including data quality assessments, indicator development and evidence-based reporting.
• Develop and deliver training on climate change adaptation and mitigation, FMNR, RGC, CBDRM, CSA, environmental governance and natural resource management, and mentor staff, partners and communities.
• Build strategic partnerships with government, academia, research, civil society, development partners and climate finance institutions, and represent the organization in national, regional and global ESCA forums.
• Lead resource mobilization and grant work: identify funding opportunities, write concept notes, proposals and grant applications, review proposals and develop investment cases.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience providing technical advisory support in climate change adaptation, mitigation, resilience and environmental management programmes within development settings.
