Shipping Supervisor

About the role

The Shipping Supervisor will oversee the end‑to‑end flow of containers and trucks, ensuring timely pick‑up, return and loading while preventing costly delays or damages. This role coordinates closely with yard teams, shipping lines and customs to maintain smooth ocean‑freight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor truck pick‑up and container return, allocating empty containers efficiently to avoid shortages, damage or demurrage.
• Manage yard operations, book shipping space, verify costs with carriers and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines.
• Coordinate terminal releases and customs clearance to guarantee on‑time container loading.
• Control the full ocean‑freight cost chain, ensure accurate documentation, archive records promptly and achieve zero errors in cost reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Transport & Logistics, Procurement, Tax Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in ocean‑freight export operations.
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts) with the ability to process order data, create KPI reports and conduct business reviews.
• Strong data‑analysis capability to identify risk points in timeliness, cost and expenses and propose optimisation measures.
• Comprehensive understanding of ocean‑freight processes, cost verification and record‑keeping without abnormal costs or cargo damage.
