SGP Programme Assistant

About the role

The Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the Global Environment Facility is managed by UNDP to provide direct grants to NGOs and community groups for climate, biodiversity, water, and land‑degradation projects. The SGP Programme Assistant supports day‑to‑day implementation of this programme in Tanzania, working closely with the National Coordinator and the National Steering Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the National Coordinator in prescreening project concepts and evaluating the financial components of proposals.
• Help develop and revise grant application forms, management tools, and programme documentation.
• Advise potential grantees on preparation processes, guidelines, and project development activities.
• Provide ongoing support to new and existing grantees, including guidance on grievance redress mechanisms.
• Participate in monitoring, evaluation, and field visits related to project implementation.
• Organise and prepare minutes for National Steering Committee meetings and other SGP events.
