About the role

The Senior Marine Planning Expert will lead the consulting services for the preparation of the Spatial Development Master Plan for Pemba Island. This senior position requires deep expertise in marine planning, conservation, and engineering to guide strategic decisions for tropical coastal environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate the Spatial Development Master Plan for Pemba Island, integrating marine science and ecosystem considerations.
• Provide technical inputs and oversight for master or strategic plans, ensuring alignment with environmental assessment standards.
• Lead and manage multidisciplinary technical teams throughout project phases.
• Address climate change adaptation strategies specific to tropical and coastal areas.
• Engage with stakeholders to incorporate local and regional priorities into planning outcomes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Marine Planning, Marine Conservation, Marine Engineering, or a related urban/rural planning discipline with a marine focus.
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in marine-related fields.
• At least 10 years of hands‑on experience in applied marine planning and conservation.
• Proven track record of contributing to master or strategic plans and managing technical teams.
