Senior Auto Electrician – Tradesman (2-year Fixed-Term)

About the role

The North Mara Mine is seeking a Senior Tradesman – Auto Electrician on a two-year fixed-term contract (8 weeks on / 4 weeks off). You will provide hands-on technical support for the mine’s heavy‑equipment fleet while leading a structured training programme to up‑skill the national auto‑electrical workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a formal auto‑electrical training programme to develop national technicians to an independent standard.
• Lead, supervise, mentor and coach the local auto‑electrical team on all tasks.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex auto‑electrical systems on CAT 777E/785C haul trucks, CAT 6020B/395 excavators and Sandvik surface drill rigs.
• Use CAT Electronic Technician (Cat ET), VIMS and Sandvik diagnostic tools for fault finding.
• Conduct root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions.
• Drive improvements in MTTR, MTBF, equipment availability and maintenance backlog.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, supporting schedule compliance.
• Ensure compliance with LOTOTO, Permit to Work, arc‑flash procedures and mandatory PPE.

Required profile

• Extensive experience maintaining auto‑electrical systems on heavy‑equipment fleets.
• Proven ability to mentor and transfer skills to a local workforce.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards, including Zero Harm.
• Willingness to work on‑site at a remote mining operation.
