Regional Technical Officer – Community Engagement TB

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer, Community Engagement, will provide technical and programmatic oversight for community and facility‑based TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and continuity of care across the Ruvuma region. The role supports civil society organisations, community health workers and regional TB coordinators to ensure high‑quality, timely TB services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for evidence‑based TB prevention, case finding, contact tracing, diagnosis and treatment interventions.
• Develop, adapt and disseminate tools, SOPs and materials for community‑based TB activities.
• Collaborate with regional and district TB coordinators, CSOs and local government to ensure implementation aligns with national guidelines.
• Assess capacity gaps of CHWs and CSOs, delivering mentorship and technical assistance.
• Monitor and analyse project performance indicators, produce reports and recommend strategies to improve treatment continuation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, international development or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in community‑based health programming, preferably with TB/HIV interventions.
• Experience working with NGOs, CSOs, CHWs and government agencies.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Tanzania (50‑75% domestic travel).

Required skills

• Fluent written and spoken English and Swahili.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong analytical and data‑use skills for interpreting program data and preparing reports.
