Project Director – GBV Prevention Program (Tanzania)

About the role

Global Communities is seeking a senior Project Director to lead the design, piloting, and national rollout of a community‑based gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention programme in Tanzania. The role is based in Dodoma and will run for 18 months, contingent on award and donor approval.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the GBV prevention programme, aligning with the PAMOJA project components.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, the Prime Minister’s Office, and other national and local stakeholders.
• Oversee four technical strands: formative research, curriculum adaptation, training of trainers, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
• Manage the design of a culturally adapted social‑norms change intervention based on the Bandebereho model.
• Lead intensive piloting in two districts and supervise quality‑assured scale‑up to fifteen councils.
• Validate a national GBV prevention protocol for sustainability within government structures.
• Ensure robust project management, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience managing large‑scale GBV or gender‑equality programmes in low‑resource settings.
• Strong track record of collaboration with government ministries and multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across research, curriculum development, training, and MEL.
• Excellent strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.
