Project Assistant

About the role

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources and Livestock (MAINL), in partnership with UNDP, is seeking a Project Assistant to support the “Safeguarding Zanzibar’s Forest and Coastal Habitats for Multiple Benefits” initiative. The role provides essential financial and logistical assistance to ensure the project’s successful implementation across Zanzibar.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, consolidation and revision of Annual Work Plans, budgets and implementation schedules.
• Compile and organise project data to support planning, monitoring and reporting activities.
• Support financial management, including budget tracking, preparation of payment requests, monitoring advances and liquidations, and flagging variances.
• Contribute to the drafting of financial and narrative reports for quarterly, annual and GEF requirements.
• Support procurement processes by preparing technical specifications, following up with vendors, tracking contracts and maintaining procurement records in line with UNDP procedures.
• Maintain inventory records, assist with asset verification and support overall logistics for the Project Management Unit.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to provide financial and logistical support within a project environment.
• Experience in preparing work plans, budgets and monitoring project expenditures.
• Familiarity with procurement procedures and asset management.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
