About the role

The Health Systems Data Analyst will support R4D’s health systems strengthening work in Tanzania. Working across the Mifumo Imara ya Afya (MIA) and Health System Design and Planning (HSDP) projects, the analyst will manage, integrate, analyze and visualise data to inform planning, resource allocation and performance management.

Key responsibilities

  • Compile, clean, link and maintain data from government health information, planning, budgeting, expenditure, workforce and commodity systems.
  • Conduct quantitative analyses to identify trends, gaps, geographic variation and implementation bottlenecks.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, maps and concise briefs that translate complex data for decision‑makers.
  • Support routine monitoring of priority indicators and planned‑versus‑actual performance.
  • Apply and document data‑quality checks, transformation rules and assumptions for reproducible outputs.
  • Promote interoperability across data systems through mapping, transformations and linkages.
  • Collaborate with Tanzanian government counterparts, R4D colleagues and technical partners to define questions and interpret findings.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, health informatics, public health, economics, health systems or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in health data management, quantitative analysis, M&E or health informatics.
  • Demonstrated experience with health‑system or service‑delivery data, especially planning, budgeting, expenditure, workforce or commodity datasets.
  • Experience using Tanzanian health information platforms such as DHIS2, FFARS, PlanRep or HFR.
  • Strong skills in data cleaning, validation, statistical analysis, visualization and reproducible data management; GIS/mapping experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in Kiswahili is highly desirable.
