Pre-School Teacher

About the role

A leading institution in the international education sector, represented by its client, is looking for a nurturing and enthusiastic Pre-School Teacher in Dar es Salaam. The role guides early learners through foundational academic and social-emotional development, delivering play-based learning aligned with the Cambridge curriculum in a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons that promote cognitive, emotional, physical and social development.
• Use play-based, hands-on activities to support early literacy, numeracy, motor skills and communication.
• Observe and assess each child's progress, documenting milestones and identifying areas needing support or enrichment.
• Maintain a warm, caring classroom that encourages exploration, curiosity and independence, and promote routines such as hygiene, feeding etiquette, dressing skills and positive behaviour reinforcement.
• Supervise children during meals, playtime, rest periods, transitions and assemblies.
• Communicate regularly with parents about progress, behaviour and developmental milestones.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, school events and cross-classroom activities, and take part in staff meetings, parent conferences and professional development.
• Set up learning centres, prepare teaching materials and keep the classroom clean, organised and stimulating.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education or a related field; Cambridge curriculum experience is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching children aged 3-4 in a structured early learning environment.
• Deep understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
• Warm, patient and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a parent-friendly and team-oriented mindset.
