Co-Teacher (Cambridge Curriculum)

About the role

A leading international education institution in Dar es Salaam, represented by its client, is looking for a proactive and compassionate Co-Teacher to support the Homeroom Teacher in delivering a well-rounded, engaging and inclusive learning experience based on the Cambridge curriculum. The role covers academic support, classroom coordination, individualized attention and contributing to a positive school culture.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Homeroom Teacher in delivering lessons, with emphasis on small groups and one-on-one support, especially for ESL learners and students needing extra help.
• Take part in lesson planning and prepare learning materials and differentiated resources.
• Maintain discipline and reinforce routines to keep the classroom structured and safe.
• Support classroom transitions, manage non-core subjects such as Art or Library, and deliver lessons in those areas.
• Monitor and document students' academic, behavioural and emotional development, and encourage hygiene, responsibility and healthy daily routines.
• Help mark formative assessments, give feedback and support students with corrections and presentations.
• Aid classroom logistics such as displays, learning materials and events, and supervise students during lunch, play, assemblies, extracurriculars and pick-up.
• Attend staff meetings, plan sessions and contribute to school events and shared responsibilities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Education, Early Childhood or a related field; familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum is an added advantage.
• At least 4-5 years of experience in teaching or co-teaching, ideally in an international or inclusive school.
• Strong classroom management and multitasking abilities, and a passion for working with children.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, organized, dependable and detail-oriented.
• Willingness to take part in school events, training and continuous learning.
