Patient Services Representative (PRN)

About the role

We are looking for a Patient Services Representative (PRN) to join our hospital front‑office team. The role involves greeting patients, managing walk‑in appointments, and handling billing and insurance tasks in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule walk‑in appointments accurately using the hospital EMR system.
• Register and check‑in patients, ensuring all required information is captured.
• Collect co‑pays, post payments to patient accounts, and issue receipts through the EMR.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and assemble patient information packets.
• Perform daily reporting, scan registration documents, and maintain a clean, organized front‑desk area.
• Assist with any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience in hospital or outpatient billing, insurance verification, collections, payment posting, or front‑office operations.
• Ability to lift 20 lb regularly, push/pull 25 lb, and stand or walk for at least five hours per day.
• Comfort working in an environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for registration, scheduling and billing.
