Patient Care Tech – PRN Night

About the role

This position is a PRN (as‑needed) night shift role supporting patient care in a clinical setting. The Patient Care Technician assists nursing staff, monitors patient status, and ensures a safe, dignified environment for patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and report patient status and needs.
• Respond to call lights, attend to and document patient requests.
• Obtain, label, and transport specimens to the designated laboratory.
• Transfer, move, and reposition patients safely.
• Measure and record vital signs, including heart rate, pulse, temperature, and blood pressure.
• Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and treatments.
• Prepare occupied and unoccupied beds.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of certification requirements and complete required safety training.
• Uphold patient dignity and foster a courteous, professional environment.

Required profile

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Minimum two years of patient care experience preferred.
• Ability to lift/carry over 20 lb regularly and stand or walk for at least five hours per day.
• Capability to work night shifts on an as‑needed basis.
• Understanding of Category I exposure risks (bloodborne pathogens, chemical and radiation hazards).
