Media Buyer & Performance Marketing Lead

About the role

Smart Foundry is seeking a Media Buyer & Performance Marketing Lead to design, launch, and optimise paid media campaigns for its portfolio of startups. Based in Dar es Salaam, you will work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment, collaborating with founders, product teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop multi‑channel media strategies and conduct audience and market research.
• Plan, execute and manage media buying on Meta, Google, programmatic DSPs, TikTok and relevant local platforms.
• Set budgets, negotiate with vendors and monitor spend across all channels.
• Track, analyse and report performance data, providing clear insights and optimisation recommendations.
• Collaborate with marketing agencies, CMOs, founders and growth teams to align campaigns with business goals and ensure consistent brand positioning.
• Stay up‑to‑date with performance‑marketing trends and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong media planning and strategy expertise with a proven track record in media buying.
• Advanced analytical skills to interpret data, optimise campaigns and report key metrics.
• Excellent communication ability to convey complex insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with the African digital media landscape, especially East Africa, is a plus.
