Machine Operator

About the role

The Machine Operator is responsible for overseeing equipment operation in packaging areas, ensuring process efficiency and maintaining high‑quality production standards. You will work closely with the Process Artisan and shift team to keep the line running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Operate packaging equipment according to VPO standards and monitor performance against targets.
• Record short stops, waste, and product movement in the appropriate systems and use trend analysis to resolve issues.
• Perform autonomous maintenance tasks, report defective plant, and assist with on‑shift repairs.
• Carry out required quality checks, document results, and react using VPO tools.
• Participate actively in shift meetings, log issues and improvement ideas, and ensure thorough hand‑over to the incoming team.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑energy production environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• National Diploma (Electrical) or equivalent technical qualification (N3 or similar).
• Experience operating and maintaining packaging machinery.
• Completion of 9‑month on‑the‑job training and SKAP within 12 months.
