Internal Auditor

About the role

Watu Africa is seeking a mid‑level Internal Auditor to join its internal audit team at the headquarters in Tanzania. The role will focus on evaluating governance, risk management and internal controls, and delivering actionable recommendations to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and report on audit engagements in line with the board‑approved risk‑based audit plan.
• Identify control weaknesses, propose risk‑mitigation measures and track implementation of corrective actions.
• Prepare clear audit reports highlighting findings, cost‑saving opportunities and recommendations.
• Collaborate with business units to ensure audit findings are understood and addressed.
• Support the Internal Audit Manager in continuous improvement of audit methodologies.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience in internal audit, risk assessment or related finance functions.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Ability to communicate audit results effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Proactive attitude with a focus on identifying efficiencies and cost‑saving opportunities.
