Head of Procurement – Lead Strategic Sourcing

About the role

The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement function for BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania, ensuring that all purchasing activities support efficient, cost‑effective program delivery while complying with BRAC International policies and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals and financial targets.
• Prepare and manage the procurement department’s budget and ensure cost‑effective operations.
• Lead the Country Teams in creating periodic procurement plans that match BRAC International schedules.
• Oversee all procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiations, and contract management.
• Handle complex, high‑value procurement projects to achieve required efficiency.
• Identify and mitigate procurement‑related risks, contributing to the country risk‑management framework.
• Supervise and develop the procurement team, setting performance targets and providing coaching.
• Ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with internal guidelines and external regulations.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in procurement, preferably within the development or non‑profit sector.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills with a track record of building effective teams.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑assessment capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
