Head of Business Development

About the role

Plan International Tanzania is seeking a senior business development leader to shape and execute its resource mobilisation strategy. The Head of Business Development will drive diversified, sustainable income growth and position the organisation as a preferred partner in the humanitarian and development sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a forward‑looking resource mobilisation strategy aligned with the Country Strategy.
• Identify and secure funding from institutional donors, multilateral agencies, foundations, private sector partners and innovative finance mechanisms.
• Lead donor intelligence, market analysis and opportunity identification to build a robust funding pipeline.
• Provide strategic advice to the Country Leadership Team on funding opportunities, risks and investment decisions.
• Strengthen strategic partnerships and external positioning to enhance Plan International Tanzania’s reputation as a leading gender‑equality partner.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in business development, resource mobilisation or fundraising within the humanitarian/development sector.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset with ability to navigate a rapidly changing donor environment.
• Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation and partnership building skills.
