Fixed Asset Accountant

About the role

The Fixed Asset Accountant will manage the accurate recognition, classification, tracking and reporting of all capital assets at Perseus Mining’s large‑scale gold mine in Tanzania. The role ensures compliance with company policy, IFRS and Tanzanian regulations while providing clear visibility of the asset base across mining, processing, infrastructure and support services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the fixed asset register, recording acquisitions, transfers, disposals and retirements in line with IFRS (IAS 16, IAS 36, IFRS 16).
• Calculate, post and reconcile monthly depreciation, amortisation and impairment entries in the ERP/general ledger.
• Prepare fixed‑asset schedules and disclosures for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Monitor capital projects from approval to completion, set up project codes, track budgets, WIP balances and ensure timely capitalisation.
• Coordinate periodic physical verification of assets, investigate discrepancies and maintain asset tagging and custody records.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, Tanzanian reporting requirements and internal policies; support internal and external audits.
• Work with engineering and maintenance teams on asset componentisation, useful lives, residual values and support impairment assessments.

Required profile

• Experience in fixed‑asset accounting within a large industrial or mining environment.
• Knowledge of IFRS standards (IAS 16, IAS 36, IFRS 16) and Tanzanian financial reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with capital‑expenditure management and project cost tracking.
• Ability to conduct physical asset verification and maintain strong internal controls.
