Field Manager – Seaweed Farming Operations

About the role

C-WEED Mwani is seeking a dedicated Field Manager to lead day‑to‑day seaweed farming activities in Mkoani, Zanzibar. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures production aligns with sustainability standards while supporting coastal communities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily seaweed production tasks and supervise field teams.
• Monitor crop health, quality, and compliance with environmental guidelines.
• Provide training, guidance, and technical support to community seaweed farmers.
• Collect field data, maintain records, and report on production performance.
• Liaise with management, logistics, and other departments to streamline operations.
• Promote safe and inclusive working conditions on the farm.

Required profile

• Experience in field operations, agriculture, aquaculture, or community‑based projects, preferably in coastal settings.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate teams.
• Competence in data collection, basic record‑keeping, and reporting.
• Proficiency in Swahili and English is advantageous.
• Understanding of sustainable farming practices and commitment to social inclusion.
• Relevant diploma or degree in agriculture, aquaculture, environmental science, or community development is an asset.
