Engineering Team Leader

About the role

Remote is looking for an Engineering Team Leader to guide a small product team of 3‑5 engineers in building and shipping features for its global HR platform. The role blends hands‑on development with people management, ensuring the team delivers high‑quality software while growing professionally.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a cross‑functional team of backend and frontend engineers, spending about 30% of time on management duties.
• Participate actively in product development alongside the team.
• Drive hiring processes for the team and assist peers with recruitment.
• Own the onboarding experience for new engineers.
• Foster a healthy team dynamic, provide continuous feedback, and support career development.
• Redesign engineering delivery using autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
• Design and operationalize end‑to‑end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify).
• Build reusable agentic primitives and ensure reliability through verification loops, tests, and guardrails.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing an engineering team of at least two members.
• Strong background in backend development, preferably with Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or other functional programming languages.
• Commitment to Remote’s core values and ability to promote them within the team.
• Solid engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production‑ready products.
