Energy Technical Specialist

About the role

The Energy Technical Specialist will work on the Field Support Services Project (FSSP) funded by Global Affairs Canada. Based in Dar es Salaam, the consultant will provide strategic technical assistance on Tanzania’s energy sector to Canadian and Tanzanian development partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to Global Affairs Canada, the Government of Tanzania, and other development stakeholders on energy‑sector issues.
• Contribute to the development of Canada’s policy advocacy and programming for the energy sector in Tanzania and the wider region.
• Support GAC’s engagement with Tanzanian authorities and development partners.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of energy‑sector stakeholders, policies, regulations and market developments.
• Deliver technical and logistical support aligned with the objectives of the Field Support Services Project.

Required profile

• Tanzanian citizenship.
• Currently residing in Dar es Salaam or willing to relocate at personal expense.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili.
• Relevant experience in the Tanzanian energy sector and development cooperation.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Tanzania’s energy policies and market landscape.
