Driver (Shinyanga, Tanzania)

About the role

Lifewater International is seeking a reliable Driver to support its Shinyanga Program Office in Tanzania. The role involves providing safe transportation for staff, officials, and mission members while upholding the organization’s high standards of discretion, integrity, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Provide reliable and safe driving services, ensuring timely arrival for meetings and appointments.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of traffic rules, road security, and vehicle safety protocols.
• Keep accurate daily vehicle logs, track mileage, fuel consumption, and schedule servicing.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections, oil changes, tire checks, and minor repairs.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean, well‑maintained, and always has sufficient fuel.
• Manage vehicle permits, insurance, and road safety stickers to remain current.
• Prepare accident reports and follow emergency procedures when needed.
• Assist office staff with filing, photocopying, and record‑keeping as required.

Required profile

• Valid Tanzanian driving licence covering classifications C1, C2 and C3.
• Advanced Driver Grade II certification from the National Institute of Transportation.
• Ordinary level Secondary Education Certificate.
• Minimum three years of proven driving experience, preferably in an NGO environment.
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.

Required skills

• Basic vehicle maintenance and ability to perform minor repairs.
