Crane Mechanic

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for a qualified Crane Mechanic to join its operations. You will be responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and repairing both mobile and stationary cranes in a mining environment, ensuring equipment availability and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Signal and direct workers during hoisting and load movements to ensure safety.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, colour‑tagging, and quarterly structural checks.
• Operate main and deck cranes within safe working loads, adjusting for weather and sea state conditions.
• Execute mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Follow lockout/tagout, isolation, confined‑space, and working‑at‑height procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, lift plans, and safety documentation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and compliance with SOPs.
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow detailed instructions.
• Willingness to attend compulsory safety courses and use required PPE.
