Compliance & Risk Officer – AML/CFT & Data Protection

About the role

The Compliance & Risk Officer will lead the company’s regulatory compliance, AML/CFT controls, risk management and data protection functions. You will ensure that all operations meet financial regulations, licensing requirements and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain AML/CFT policies, procedures, transaction monitoring rules and escalation protocols aligned with FATF standards.
• Monitor transactions for suspicious activity and file Suspicious Transaction Reports within regulatory timelines.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports, risk assessments and compliance documentation to authorities.
• Act as Data Protection Officer, handling personal data obligations, breach notifications and data subject requests.
• Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for high‑risk merchants and approve KYC/KYB documentation before activation.
• Maintain audit‑ready compliance logs, monitoring records and audit trails.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, compliance audits and examination preparation across departments.
• Provide risk assessments and recommendations to senior management.
• Develop and deliver AML/CFT and data protection training for staff.
• Liaise with regulators, financial authorities and external stakeholders on compliance matters.

Required profile

• Degree in Law, Business, Economics, Finance or a related field.
• Mandatory PDPC certification to act as Data Protection Officer.
• Mandatory AML/CFT certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of compliance, regulatory or risk management experience in financial services.
• Experience in licensed financial institutions, PSPs, mobile money operators or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, payment systems regulations and data protection laws.
• Proven experience handling regulatory reporting and compliance audits.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and risk assessment abilities with high attention to detail.
